FIBROMYALGIAFibromyalgia is a condition that affects the musculature of the body. Certain muscles become painful and tender. These tender areas are called trigger points. Fibromyalgia occurs more in women than in men. It is many times associated with chronic tension headaches, depression and sleeplessness. Patients with fibromyalgia often report that even after they do sleep, they feel that they awaken unrefreshed. The pain tends to be worse in the morning, and can be made worse by weather changes and emotional stress. Patients also report a general fatigue and decreased physical endurance. Recent studies have shown chiropractic care to be a very effective treatment for fibromyalgia. In our office, we have treated many patients with fibromyalgia successfully over the years.
