Other Articles Good Posture, Good for all kinds of things5/6/2006 7:00:00 PMHere at the NORTHEAST SPINE & WELLNESS CENTER we have been saying for years that your mother is right in asking you to sit up straight. Recently, the Times Union ran an article on The Importance of Good Posture and How It Can Even Help You To Be Slimmer and Trimmer. The book outlined in the article was by a health educator, Janice Novak, who says that posture can make you look ten years younger and ten pounds thinner.
The rest of society is only now beginning to see what chiropractors have been preaching all along, posture is vitally important not only to your spinal health, but also to your general health. It is unfortunate that over the past several years we have been seeing more children in the office who are bothered by not only back pain, but also by breathing problems. Some of these children have been active and attempt to be active in sports, but yet they maintain a constant strain on the musculoskeletal system due to poor posture. It is important that parents understand that for long-range benefits of health posture is not just an item involving the muscles, but rather something, which is important for breathing, for digestion and even proper sleeping. In today’s hectic society running to soccer games and picking up from after-school activities, you need to get back to the basics of proper posture for good health.
